Play Safe and Stay Safe

Corona Virus Update on Resumption of Play

We are pleased to confirm that the golf course re-opened for play on Saturday 16th May.

Please be advised that the golf course is open to Members that have paid their annual subscription fees or currently have a standing order in place. Visitors are also welcome to play from Monday 1st June by reserving a Pre-Booked Tee Time to play the course following the guidance on our Visitors Page.

Tee times are available from 8am to 8pm with a minimum of 10-minute intervals.

Visitors (and Members) are reminded that if you do not have a Pre-Booked Tee Time to play the course you are not authorised or insured to play golf and you will be politely instructed to leave the course.

To book a tee-time for yourself and a fellow member you will need to have a current Howdiddo account and access to the internet. If you do not have a Howdidido login, you can register for an account here: https://www.howdidido.com/Account/Register.

Please ensure that the email address you use to login to Howdiddo is the same as the email address provided to St Bees Golf club for club communications. This will ensure that you can link your Howdiddo account to your St Bees Membership.

For Members with a PC/Laptop/Tablet

The quickest and easiest way to Book a Tee Time yourself is to visit the St Bees Golf Club Club V1 portal and follow the instructions below:

For Smart-Phone Users

Please access the same system using the ClubV1 Members App which is available on the Android Play Store or the Apple App Store. Instructions for installing the app on an Android phone and Booking a Tee Time are provided below:

We encourage all members to book tee times yourself using the methods above even if that means leaning on friends and family or fellow members to offer assistance.

If any members are still unable to reserve a tee- time after exhausting all other avenues please call Club Captain, Iain Wright on 07711 324676

Once you have a tee-time please be advised that England Golf have issued guidelines and insisted that all golf clubs change their normal working practices to ensure compliance with government restrictions. The following aspects of the golfer experience, divided into the five categories below have been considered by the committee and the following protocols must be strictly adhered to:

  1. Course Set-up

All rakes have been removed from bunkers, ball washers are covered up, benches are not to be used and practice areas remain closed.

Golf holes will be partially filled with foam such that the ball can be retrieved without making contact with the hole.

Access to toilet facilities will be available on the understanding that hand sanitisers and paper towels must be used.

  1. Before the Round

Players must read and observe the safeguarding signs that will be displayed prominently throughout the course.

The clubhouse remains closed, players should arrive at the course no more than 15 minutes before their allotted tee time and should observe social distancing from any other golfers/staff at the club.

  1. During the Round

Golfers to play off yellow grass tees.

Golfers must give way to green keeping staff at all times.

Golfers must keep two metres apart at all times and must not touch any stray golf balls.

Golfers are asked to make best efforts to smooth the sand in bunkers using your club and/or feet. Flagsticks are not to be touched at any time.

  1. After the Round

Social distancing is as important after a round as it is during the round, so when your round is over all golfers must leave the course and the club/facility immediately so that there are no gatherings around the clubhouse area or the car park.

  1. Rules of Golf Related Matters

During the first very cautious phase of restarting golf only social golf will be played. No competitions will be taking place including weekend medals and Drones fixtures. Scorecards are not to be used or exchanged and two ball pairs can decide on whatever rules they wish to apply. Golfers are required to leave the flagstick in the hole at all times and not to touch it.

We implore all members who read these instructions, to share them  with fellow members of St Bees Golf Club. We also need to stress that providing the club with a current email address will ensure that we can keep you all up to date in this fast-moving situation.

Please continue to visit the club Website and Facebook page regularly, for further information and updates, as we continue to monitor the latest guidance from England Golf and the UK Government

We thank you for your forbearance during these unprecedented times and look forward to your cooperation in following the social distancing rules that must be strictly adhered to at all times.

Enjoy your Golf and Stay Safe
